Can water be organic?
The simple answer is no. Water is made up of one oxygen and two hydrogen atoms and no carbon atoms. The absence of carbon atoms, automatically deems water to be an ‘inorganic’ substance, and therefore not ‘organic’ in the strictest of definitions.
The bottling of water is strictly regulated in Australia and governed by the Australia and New Zealand Food Standards Code. Here at Snowy Mountain, we care about you and the environment, so we do much more to ensure you are drinking the purest, most natural single source spring water you will find.
So, while water can’t be defined as ‘organic’, the systems and processes that we have in place at Snowy Mountain ensures the natural integrity of our spring water – from the spring to you.
Organic processing – treated like an ‘organic’ product
Each refreshing drop of Snowy Mountain Natural Spring Water is processed in accordance with the Australian Organic Code. In order to do this, our bottling facility and spring in Trentham undergo rigorous assessment by third party auditors every year so that we are able to register our natural spring water with the Biological Farmers Association (BFA).
BFA Registered Products bearing the bud logo are sourced and processed without the use of synthetic chemicals, fertilisers, or genetically modified inputs. The organic link is maintained across the entire supply chain from the soil surrounding the spring in Trentham, renown as an organic farming region, during transportation, bottling and storage. Synthetic chemicals are prohibited from being anywhere near water bottling lines. While in transit, restrictions also apply to the shipment of artificial chemicals in proximity to Snowy Mountain Natural Spring Water, despite that every bottle is airtight, sealed under sterile conditions, then packaged.

Registration with the BFA endorses our belief that Snowy Mountain, not only complies with a set of standards which ensures product purity and quality, but also that we need to be constantly proactive about protecting the environment, for now and for the future.
